What your result means for IPTV

IPTV streams video over your internet connection, so the speed reaching your device decides the quality you can watch smoothly. The numbers below are per simultaneous stream — if two TVs are watching at once, add them together.

QualityRecommended speed
SD (480p)4–5 Mbps
HD (720p)8–10 Mbps
Full HD (1080p)12–15 Mbps
4K / UHD~25 Mbps

FAQs

IPTV speed test — FAQs

How does this IPTV speed test work?

When you press Start, your browser downloads a test file from our server several times over a few seconds and measures how fast it arrives. That download rate, shown in megabits per second (Mbps), is a close approximation of the speed available for IPTV streaming on this device and connection.

What internet speed do I need for IPTV?

As a rule of thumb: around 4–5 Mbps for SD, 8–10 Mbps for HD (720p), 12–15 Mbps for Full HD (1080p) and about 25 Mbps for 4K/UHD — per simultaneous stream. If several people watch at once, add those figures together.

Why is my result lower than my broadband plan?

Speed tests measure the real throughput to this device right now, which is affected by Wi-Fi, other downloads, the time of day and your hardware. For the most accurate result, test on a wired connection with nothing else running, and try a couple of times.

Does the test upload or store any of my data?

No. The test only downloads a file to measure speed. Nothing about your connection or results is uploaded, saved or shared — everything happens in your browser.

My speed is fine but IPTV still buffers — why?

Buffering is not always about raw speed. An unstable Wi-Fi signal, an overloaded router, a busy single channel or a device short on memory can all cause it. Try a wired connection, restart your router and box, and check our setup guide.

How many IPTV streams can my connection handle?

Divide your measured speed by the per-stream requirement. For Full HD (about 12 Mbps each), a 50 Mbps line comfortably handles three or four simultaneous streams with headroom to spare.
